Graduation Requirements PWCS offers two types of diplomas:  STANDARD DIPLOMA  ADVANCED STUDIES DIPLOMA Note: you will receive a “carnegie unit course credit when you actually pass a class. The credit is considered verified when you pass that SOL in that course per VDOE.

Transcripts  A transcript is a resume for life after High School.  The information on transcripts includes course history, credits earned, GPA, and class rank.  Freshman Year is as important as any other year.

CTE specialty programs have 2 options… Transfer & Transport Transfer means you apply to the high school offering the program and are no longer affiliated with your “base school”. Transport means you begin your day at your “base school” and are transported by PWC to the high school offering the program of your choice.

Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Programs (JROTC) All high schools, with the exception of Brentsville and Patriot, have a JROTC program for the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines. The program teaches leadership, self-discipline, citizenship, and organizational skills. JROTC students are frequently involved in drill team, air rifle competitions, community service, color guard, academic team, mini boot camp and orienteering. Students’ whose base school is Brentsville may transfer to Stonewall Jackson for JROTC. Students’ whose base high school is Patriot may apply to either Battlefield or Stonewall Jackson for JROTC

Governors Innovation Park  The Governor’s Innovation Park is a partial- day Academic Year Governor’s School program with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines.  serves the school divisions of Manassas City, Manassas Park City, and Prince William County and is housed on George Mason University Prince William Campus.  Students attend science, mathematics, engineering, research, and computer science classes at in the mornings then return to their base high schools in the afternoons to take courses in social studies, language arts, and electives as well as to participate in extracurricular activities.

Governors Innovation Park  Students admitted into The Governor’s Innovation Park are eligible to enroll in Mason courses for credit.  Students enrolled in Mason courses for credit should be capable of doing college level work demonstrated through their high school grades.  Course offerings below are all dual enrollment options through George Mason University with the exception of Inventions and Innovations:

What does all this mean for me????  Think about your current academic situation. Do you need to make changes? How are you doing?  Take careful thought if applying for a specialty program OR when registering for pre-AP classes: 1.Will I follow the program until the end? 2.Do I meet the qualifications for the program??? 3.Can I manage my time wisely to complete this program successfully? 4.Will this program better prepare me for my next steps in life? (college, trade, military, work)
