What is CSE? Child Sexual Exploitation ‘ Someone taking advantage of you sexually, for their own benefit. Through threats, bribes, violence, humiliation or by telling you that they love you, they will have the power to get you to do sexual things for their own or other people’s enjoyment.’

Child Sexual Exploitation There are different ways in which young people are drawn into CSE. Brainstorm in you table groups. Push/pull factors – What things might push someone into CSE? – What things might pull someone into CSE?

Models of CSE A.Party model B.Grooming/befriending C.Boyfriend/pimp D.Peer on peer E.Organised trafficking 1. Victims are moved through gangs of (usually) men between towns and coerced into sex. 2. Use of inappropriate power over victim, friendship starts. 3. Gatherings are organised with lots of drink and drugs. 4. A seemingly consensual relationship develops but turns abusive. 5. Someone of the same age. Can you match the model to the description?

Watch Eastenders clip and consider these questions: – What makes her vulnerable – What are the danger signs – How does the perpetrator act What model of CSE is this?
