Emotion & Depression Callum Kinsey

Different aspects of depression Self injury, I can incorporate this into my own work by experimenting with makeup by replicating cuts and bruises with different techniques Eating disorder, this is going to be transferred into my work by using inspiration I have found online and from my inspired photographers such as Nan Goldin. I will also include the prospective of a person suffering with the disorder looking into a mirror and seeing themselves with internal hatred. Anxiety, this can be shown in many ways using models, I plan on trying to make the images I take as realistic as possible with each image showing different affects anxiety can have on people, whether it’s being afraid to be in a group or having a anxiety of people’s opinions the idea I have for this will include text and image with ‘thought bubbles’ Recurrent depressive disorder, this is a mental disorder and can be harder to capture the feelings by image but persistent low mood and low self-esteem occur with this disorder which can be captured by image and can paint a picture on the daily situations Psychotic depression, is a very serious mood disorder that requires hospitalization, I plan on capturing this mood by making my models chained to a object that can look like a hospital bed, I will use selective color to emphasize the important areas of the image.

Nan Goldin Nan Goldin: 'I wanted to get high from a really early age' Goldin is an outsider by instinct and nocturnal by nature, someone who lives on the edge of society by her own rules. She made her name in the 1980s, visually recording with an unflinching eye her own wayward life, and the often dissolute lives of her circle of friends, which included addicts, hustlers, transvestites and prostitutes. In doing so, she redefined what photography could do and what it could be – a mirror of oneself as well as the world.

Robert Frank Robert Frank is an American photographer and documentary filmmaker. His most notable work, the 1958 book titled The Americans, "changed the nature of photography, what it could say and how it could say it. it remains perhaps the most influential photography book of the 20th century.“ 1946: He turned to photography I like Robert Frank’s images because he uses black and white to change the effect of the mood.

Dorothea Lange Dorothea Lange was an influential American documentary photographer and photojournalist, best known for her Depression- era work for the Farm Security Administration. Lange's photographs humanized the consequences of the Great Depression and influenced the development of documentary photography.

Quotes If you don't think your anxiety, depression, sadness and stress impact your physical health, think again emotions trigger chemical reactions in your body, which can lead to inflammation and a weakened immune system Learn how to cope, sweet friend. There will always be dark days. That's the thing about depression: A human being can survive almost anything, as long as she sees the end in sight. But depression is so insidious, and it compounds daily, that it's impossible to ever see the end. The fog is like a cage without a key.

Replica of images I plan to make my images similar to my research. I plan to take images of old and dilapidated buildings an example would be by the docks where the old buildings have been neglected and left to rot, I will also need models to re act scenarios of depression, which would consist of them looking upset and lonely. I could experiment with make up to make it look like scars, cuts and bruises.
