Library members can borrow from a diverse collection of books and reports relating to health care, health promotion, and management. Most books are loaned out for a month at a time. (Books in high demand may be issued for a week or available for reference only.) If we don’t have the book you need we can almost always get hold of it within a few days. Borrowing books
Library members have access to hundreds of health care journals in print and online. You’ll be able to access these electronic journals from your workplace or from home. (Ask us about the passwords you’ll need). If we don’t have what you need, the library can usually obtain a copy from another library. Journals

The library staff are happy to assist users in searching on a wide range of health care issues or they can carry out literature searches on request. Literature searches
Our information skills trainers will teach you how to improve your online searching in order to find the answers to clinical and managerial questions. We also provide workshops on how to read research papers. Sessions are held in your workplace or in the library, in groups or one-to-one, and courses can be tailor made. Training
The library staff can help you keep up-to-date in your field. We don’t overload you with information but send out short, targeted notifications about newly published evidence that will inform your work. Horizon scanning

The Public Health Librarian works with public health and primary care professionals in East Sussex and Brighton and Hove providing: Evidence for public health and commissioning A personalised horizon scanning service, Public Health Alerts, which is tailored to individuals’ specific professional interests. Health promotion Our health promotion team supplies hundreds of local GP practices, schools, charities, clinics and hospital wards with leaflets and other resources to promote healthy living. The health promotion stock includes books, videos, training materials, physiological and anatomical models, teaching packs and DVDs.
We provide a full library service to all staff of Sussex Partnership Trust, and to all NHS staff and students based at Mill View Hospital, Nevill Hospital, Hove Polyclinic, and in the local community. The library’s collection specialises in mental health and community health resources. us at Mental health
Brighton & Sussex Medical School is a partnership between the University of Sussex, University of Brighton and Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust. The Library serves staff and students from the Medical School. The Medical School Librarian can be contacted at Medical school
