3 Domains Everything that is living Archae Eukarya Bacteria.
Bacteria Bacteria: –are unicellular –are prokaryotic –have cell walls –are either autotrophic or heterotrophic.
Simple Organisms part 2 Protist and Fungi Oh Bacteria!  Oh, lacking any nucleus, you do have a cell wall You live in water, air, and soil, and anywhere.
What is a microorganism? It is a living thing too small to see without a microscope.
Kingdom Protista Eukaryotes that are not members of the kingdoms Plantae, Animalia, or Fungi Characteristics –Live in moist environment –Either free-living.
INTRODUCTION TO MICROBES. WHAT IS A MICROORGANISM? A microorganism or microbe is a tiny living thing that we cannot see without the aid of a microscope.
* organisms that cannot be classified into any other group (plant, animal, fungus, bacteria) * organisms that are typically made up of just one cell *
5 Kingdoms How we classify living things…. Review Terms Heterotrophic- must find it’s food Autotrophic- makes it’s own food New Terms to be learned *
Are they harmful? Are they beneficial?
CELLS AND YOU BY DEVIN A FAHIM VOCABULARY CELL - THE BASIC UNIT OF STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION IN ALL LIVING THING’S. ORGANISM - A LIVING THING.
FUNGI. KINGDOM FUNGI Important characteristics Eukaryotic- have a nucleus Use spores to reproduce Heterotrophs Some unicellular, some are multicellular.

Bacteria

Let’s take a closer look! Let’s take a closer look!

Fungi (Fungus)

How do they grow?

Why did the mushroom get invited to all the parties?

…because he’s a fun guy!

Protozoan

What do microorganisms do? Some microorganisms make food ( yogurt, soy sauce) Some microorganisms cause sickness Some microorganisms help kill bacteria that makes you sick (penicillin) Some microorganisms help dead things decay so the Earth is clean Some microorganisms cause skin disease Some fungi can rot and kill wood Some microorganisms help animals and human digest Some microorganisms on uncooked food makes people sick Some microorganisms help clean up oil spills Some harmful microorganisms grow on cooked foods that are left out too long Phytoplankton is a Protist that provides half of the oxygen that we breath and it is a major food source for many fish.
