Nuclear Chemistry WebQuest August 2008 Alison Tucker

Overview This WebQuest will be focusing on the uses of nuclear chemistry. Introduction Task and Process Resources Evaluation Conclusion

Introduction What is nuclear chemistry? How does it affect our everyday lives and why is it important? The point of the WebQuest is going to be focusing these questions.

Task and Process You will be picking a way that nuclear chemistry is being used by people currently. There are some links in the resources section to help you get ideas for your topic. Once you have selected your topic you are going to research how and why your topic is used. Look at the benefits and drawbacks of it. Are there other options that might work better?resources

Task and Process (cont) Then you need to decide whether or not it is a valid use of chemistry. Find evidence to support your position. Then create a 5-10 minute presentation on your topic. The presentation should cover the basics of what your topic is and why you think it should be used that way. See evaluation section for grading. There will be a question and answer section at the end of your presentation. evaluation

Evaluation The WebQuest presentation will be graded using the rubric provided in class. The focus will be on content and delivery. Make sure that you have a good understanding of your content and that you are able to make your argument persuasively.

Conclusion You should now have a better understanding of why we study nuclear chemistry and how it impacts our lives. Hopefully, you are better able to determine for yourself whether you think that it is beneficial or not.
