NCAA Initial Eligibility

Major Changes in Initial Eligibility EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY! Must complete a combination of 7 English/Math/Science prior to senior year Must complete 10 core courses prior to senior year Must have 7/10 prior to senior year to be eligible The 7/10 are “Locked in” when computing Core GPA –Reasoning- Prevent “back loading” academic core Must have a 2.3 Core GPA to be eligible to compete freshmen year –Sub 2.0, non-qualifier – Academic Red-shirt

Summer School Prior to senior year, counts towards 7/10 –Original Transcript from ALL outside schools must be sent to EC –+1 core after graduation can be used towards 16 core –+3 core can be used after graduation if documented disability –Best option- “Live” classroom setting On Line – New Jersey Virtual All On Line Platforms (Educere/Penn Foster) MUST be confirmed with EC

Best Practices Know the Grading Scale! Self tracking and Guidance/Coach tracking Take 20 core over HS –Take additional English/Math/Science Register with EC prior to completion of junior year All tests sent to EC/Colleges (submitted during registration) HS send transcripts of all juniors and seniors in June –Seniors must have stamped graduation date –Outside transcripts must come from issuing HS
