What kind of number is it? Natural Numbers Whole Numbers Integers Signed Numbers Real Numbers Positive Numbers Negative Numbers Non-Positive Numbers Non-Negative Numbers Irrational Numbers FractionsDecimals /2 - 1/ /3 p 4.01 Rational Numbers

Natural Numbers The natural numbers are also called the counting numbers.

Whole Numbers The whole numbers are the counting numbers with zero added in.

Integers The integers are the positive and negative whole numbers with zero

/2 -1/ /3 4.01Signed Numbers The signed numbers include decimals & fractions

Positive Numbers /3 p The positive numbers include decimals & fractions

Negative Numbers / The negative numbers include decimals & fractions

Non-Positive Numbers / The non-positive numbers are negative or zero

Non-Negative Numbers /3 p The non-negative numbers are positive or zero

Proper Fractions -1/2 2/7 More Fractions Proper fractions have a smaller numerator.

Improper Fractions -5/2 8/3 Improper fractions have a larger numerator. They can be written as mixed numbers.

Decimals Decimals are a special kind of fraction, using powers of ten.

Rational Numbers /2 -1/ / Rational numbers can be written as fractions, or as terminating or repeating decimals.

Irrational Numbers Irrational numbers can not be written as fractions; they include roots of numbers. They are non-terminating, non-repeating decimals.

Real Numbers /2 -1/ /3 p 4.01 Finish The real numbers include all of the types of numbers presented here.

Complex Numbers Finish The imaginary numbers involve the square root of negative numbers.

The End /2 -1/ /3 p
