Language Master the rules of standard English Grammar and usage when writing and speaking. Types of sentences: simple, compound(I,C I) complex(D,I) Sentence problems – Fragments (bare bones: prep phrases, dependent clauses, interruptions) – Verbals ( infinatives and gerunds=subjects, participles=adjectives_ – Dangling participles (be sure the subject is named in main clause) – Run-on sentences – Comma splices
