Statutory Requirements Beginning in 2007, Florida has state-level physical education requirements for all grade spans (Elementary, Middle and High) There is currently no state-level requirement for recess or additional physical activity outside of the physical education requirements Each local school district and/or school determines physical activity opportunities available to students

Activity-based Nutrition Education Games The Departments of Health and Education collaborated to provide examples of activity-based nutrition education games for K-5 students Three non-elimination games are included, as well as links to activity descriptions for teachers to download The activities are aligned to Florida’s Standards for Physical Education and could also be used by a classroom teacher It is housed on the Healthiest Weight Florida website at
