Cell Structure and Function

The Nucleus

A. The Cell Organelles 1. Nucleus- controls the cell’s metabolism. It stores the genetic information.

The Mitochondria

2. Mitochondria- are pod- shaped structures that contain special proteins known as enzymes. It is sometimes known as the powerhouse of the cell.

The Vacuole

3. Vacuoles – are the storage sacs within the cytoplasm. They may contain wastes, food or water.

4. Chloroplasts- the green structure found in plants. They contain chlorophyll.  Chlorophyll is the green pigment that captures light energy.  It is important in the food production in plant

 In 3-5 complete sentences, answer the aim.
