Community Benefits  Campus and community support for Club Galeon proves to be sustainable.  Wellness Director becomes liaison to therapy.  70% of memory care residents actively participating  66% of Board and 23% of employees involved.  44% actively engaged across campus.  Outpatient therapy patients increase by 166%.  Club membership averages per month.  Club members joining because they want to, not because they have been told they have to.  Prevention keeps compelling medical model demands in perspective.  Niche market opportunities are created such as in weight loss, balance, fall risk reduction, K-12 education, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s, incontinence prevention, nutrition, etc.  Wellness and exercise impact the human condition more directly than most quality initiatives.

Financial Benefits  Margin from therapy services significantly increased.  Revenues from community outreach offset most program costs.  Grants for wellness and prevention initiatives readily available.  Evidence-based programs are available, inexpensive, replicable.  Consumers incur lower cost for medications, supplies, and clinical visits while managing their conditions.  Allows for the creation of relationships that lead to future referrals. Prevention and wellness services are successful when offered conveniently and affordably to large numbers of older adults.

bioDensity “I have been a member of Galeon for 5 or 6 years. About 10 years ago I was diagnosed with osteopenia. I did the usual Fosamax for 5 years, but the improvement was minimal. I started regularly working out at Galeon and taking more calcium and vitamin D. When Galeon received the bone density machine, I went to my doctor for another bone density scan so that I could get a baseline against which I could measure progress. At that time it was found that I had improved enough to be taken out of the osteopenia stage.
