…How about now? 4

Abstract Mosquito population composition in Natrona Co. Testing for West Nile Virus (WNV), Western Equine Encephalitis (WEE), and St. Louis Encephalitis (SLE) 5

Introduction Every state has reported WNV presence 692 confirmed human infections in WY WEE reported in neighboring states Birds are only host reservoirs 6

Methods 7

Collecting Larval collection with standard mosquito dipper Site for larvae dried up (Shooter’s Complex) Adult collection with New Jersey light traps 8

Testing VecTest Vortex mixer Pulverization Dipstick assays 9

Preservation Low population numbers did not merit a lab colony Collection from field Point punch and #3 insect pins used to mount 10

Procedure 8 sites in Natrona Co. Convenience sample Systematic sampling Complete and partial submersion Adults collected with New Jersey light traps 11

Results Adult Population Fluctuation Primarily composed of aedes vexans, aedes dorsalis, culex tarsalis, culex pipiens, culiseta inornata 12

Testing WNV, WEE, & SLE Negative Culex and Aedes Distended thoraces CDC dry ice traps 13

Discussion Unusual season: ▫ Fire ▫ Temperature Larval vs. Adult populations Wealth of data 14
