Classes at camp Beach Bound – water cycle, currents, waves, and weather Jetty Rocks – adaptations of plants and animals in harsh intertidal environments Kelp Connections – discover how ocean animals and humans use kelp every day Beach Afternoon – Play on the beach and swim in the ocean.
Classes at camp Estuary Exploration – Learn about tides, zones, and explore the largest coastal estuary in So. CA. Sea Survival – Variety of outdoor survival techniques. Teambuilding – build self-esteem, group cooperation, communication, and trust.
Cabins Students will be placed with at least one of their friend choices. Once cabins have been assigned there will be no changes. Cabins sleep 12 to 16 people. At least 2 chaperones will be present in each cabin.
Required Forms District permission slip. Just the bottom half. This form must be turned in completed.
Required Forms Field Trip Medication Consent Form ALL medications in pharmacy provided container. This is for a teacher to provide medication (aspirin, Dramamine…) on the bus—if needed.
Required Forms YMCA Camper Health History Form Dietary Restrictions noted here. This form must be completed and turned in.
What to bring We will post a link to the packing list on Mr. Chapman’s Website – in case yours is misplaced. Most important items: sleeping bag and closed-toe shoes.
What to bring continued… Students may bring personal electronic devices, such as phones. These items will be left in cabins while students are at classes during the day. We are NOT responsible for damage to or loss of any such items.
Meals The food is fabulous at Camp Surf! Meals are served family style. Please make sure any dietary restrictions have been noted. There has never been a case of starvation at camp…
Behavior Students are so involved with learning, while having fun, there isn’t time for anything else. Students making poor choices, if ever such a thing would happen, will have a “time-out” from camp activities. Poor behavior at camp will be treated just as it is at school. Severe behaviors = Parents will need to come get child from camp.
