Ekphrastic Poetry Presentations How do I use another person’s art to inspire my own?

Ekphrastic Definition:  Ekphrastic refers to a form of writing, mostly poetry, wherein the author describes another work of art, usually visual. It is used to convey the deeper symbolism of the corporeal art form by means of a separate medium. It has often been found that ekphrastic writing is rhetorical in nature and symbolic of a greater meaning.  We will build ekphrastic poems about a visual artwork or image. In other words, a painting/sculpture or photograph.  For images: provide a 200 to 250 word description of the image AND Ms. Gordon a JPEG of the image for the PowerPoint, including the author and the title of the work.  Images must be school appropriate  Poems must be a minimum of 18 to 24 lines, with 8-12 syllables per line, and appropriate for the audience  Presentation must be no longer than 5 minutes  Turn in typed copy of poem WITH ATTRIBUTION to the image.
