Task Definition Task Definition 1 Decide what needs to be done based on your teacher’s directions or the assignment. (Define the problem) HINT: BREAK the task down to manageable parts.

Information Seeking Strategies 2 Information Seeking Strategies What resources can I use or which resources can I consult? (Brainstorm a list of resources) Narrow to the best resources. HINT: Can I consult a book? Can I talk to an expert? Can I find an article? Can I use the internet (website)? Can I ask my teacher?

Location and Access 3 Location and Access Where can I find these resources? Be specific here. (Where can I physically find these resources?) HINT: Library, name the specific website, NC Wiseowl, Call a Zoo, Call a Veteranarian, Call an expert or professional.

Use of Information 4 Use of Information What can I use from these resources? HINT: Extract the relevant information. What information do I expect to find in this source? What information is useful and credible/valid?

Synthesis 5 Synthesis Organize the information you have obtained or gotten from multiple sources. Present the Information HINT: Organize whatever you are doing. If it is a powerpoint make sure it is logical in order.

Evaluation Evaluation 6 Judge the product. (Answer whether you think it is effective or efficient the way you completed it) Did you do all that was required of you to complete the task or project? Did I complete the Big6 steps when I researched this? HINT: Be very honest when you critique or evaluate your product and the process.
