Youth Strategy Outcomes The Youth strategy will be measured against the following outcomes: Improve student completions by 10% for targeted youth programs (MLCR) Improve student (15-19 without year 12) attainment by 20% each year for 3 years Improve student satisfaction annually by 10% from 2012 (Student Program Evaluation Tool) Improve teacher satisfaction annually by 5% from 2012 (Teacher Program Evaluation Tool) Increased use of pathways to Cert III and above qualifications from Target Youth programs.

The Youth Strategy has 10 elements 1. Youth Programs – (a) Marketing (b) Harvester (c) Visy Care Hub 2. Language Literacy and Numeracy 3. Embedded Career Education 4. Youth Support and Learning Plans 5. Youth Friendly Learning Experiences 6. Community Engagement 7. Communication Strategy 8. Compliance and Policy 9. Research and Development 10. A Governance Framework

4. Youth Support and Learning Plans Learning Plans to guide individual support Each young person (in targeted youth courses) commencing in 2011 will develop a learning plan in partnership with the Youth Smart staff. Identifying Youth at Risk of not completing Develop and implement a process for identifying students at risk of not completing their studies. Student follow up non-attendance is undertaken by the Youth Smart staff Student support for specific needs through retention officers. Student support services Young people will be supported to access Student Services through the retention officers. The youth strategy will work collaboratively with Student Engagement to ensure their work and staffing arrangements support the Youth strategy.

Youth Smart – Individual Learning Plan “We collect information about the student and the student will tell us ” About me – who I live with, country of birth, main language.... Where have I come from – education/ school I choose this course because My reading, writing and maths skills – assessment of my skills What do I bring with me – my skills, qualities, interests, hobbies... My work experience – paid or unpaid Where do I want to get to – the jobs I am considering.... My goals – educational and personal goals, what could make it hard for me to achieve my goals and the steps I will take to achieve them
