Review STRAHNET roadways for adequacy, safety and suitability for military deployments: –Validity of STRAHNET Routes –Pavement Conditions –Bridge Conditions to support equipment –Suitability of route Oversize/Overweight Permitting Assistance Toll Relief from Private-Public Partnerships DOD needs on Highways SDDC

Critical Access Roadways to Seaports –Some routes under jurisdiction of locality rather than the State –Support establishment of a program to allow federal funds to be spent on these roads Freight Transportation Gateways: Freight Intermodal Connections –Improvements to various access roads to commercial ports including those currently not eligible for Federal- aid funding. –STRAHNET connector roads to SPOE’s could be improved. DOD needs on Highways

Existing Congestion at military installations Additional Growth Expected –123,000 military and civilian personnel relocated –18 military installations in 12 states expect significant personnel increases by –GAO reports much needed infrastructure improvements to local public transportation is needed to support personnel increases –Local communities unable to support improvements by 2011 HND suggests new program be part of FHWA Reauthorization to help support communities affected by military growth SDDC
