ANNE—TARCTICA

Where to set off The best place to set off to Antarctica is at Christchurch at New Zealand as it is closer and they are English speaking or Cape Horn in South America as it is closer to the poles.

Time to set off The best time to set off is in December because Antarctica is in summer at that time and you can actually see 10 metres in front of you without a torch providing there isn’t a whiteout happening and not freeze to death.

What to bring Bring UV resistant sunnies!!! The sun reflection of the snow and sea is massive. It is a good idea to buy several sets of ski gear instead and to wear jumpers underneath which were suitable for Canberra. Bring goggles, hiking boots and a lot of food

How to get around Due to the risk of wildlife extinction in Antarctica, husky dogs are banned Instead, try using snow mobiles to get around. They may be expensive, but that’s the only way.

What to eat Bring a lot of canned or non- perishable food and it is recommended that you store your food at the local base and eat there as it is quite heavy to carry around everywhere.

Tourist attractions Emperor Penguins Blue, killer and humpback whales Elephant, fur and leopard seals Aurora lights and Glaciers
