 Professor Stone told we students, “Dr Walker graduated from syracuse medical school in 1855.”  “How few womans were doctors then” exclamed professor Stone! 7th Grade - Week 4

 In 1864 you know dr. Walker was commissioned an assistant surgeon in the union Army.  There no other female officers so someone may have reccomended she for the post. 7th Grade - Week 4

 Dr. walker always dressed in a tall hat long coat and men’s trousers after the war.  She didn’t conforme to her generations views about women, people thought women should be only wifes and mothers. 7th Grade - Week 4

 “Doctor Walker, said Professor Stone, “was always a strong suporter of women’s rights”  She work hard for these cause all her life and she received both praise and ridicule. 7th Grade - Week 4
