 Most children are baptized.  Children are often taken out into the world as soon as possible.  Grandparents and extended family often live together and help raise the child.  Fowl and fish are common foods.  Compulsory education starts at age 6.

 Hungarian – 99.6% of population, Official Language of Hungary  English – 16%  German – 11.2%  Russian – 1.6%  Romanian – 1.3%  French – 1.2%  Italian -.8%

 39% Catholic (Christian)  11.65% Calvinists (Christian)  2.2% Lutheran (Christian)  2% Other  16.7% Non-religious  Although not religious they stress the importance of honesty and truth.

 Time Consciousness  Especially in business, Hungarians stress the importance of being on time for meetings and never keep anyone waiting  Anti-Political Institutions  Many Hungarians are skeptical about their government due to their previous socialist government.  Family  Hungarians believe that family is the most essential part of life. They put more importance on family than friends. In fact, social interaction is much lower in Hungary compared to other countries.

 Hospitality  Hungarians always welcome guests into their home and are very hospitable.  Dining  While dining it is rude to cough or sniffle at the table.  Hands should be above the table but elbows should not be placed on table.  Etiquette  Men should walk on the left side of women  Men should always enter restaurants, coffee shops, ect before women.  It is common to greet people with a kiss on the cheek and social intimacy is common.

 The long lasting traditions in Hungary are mostly Christian holidays like Christmas and Easter. They also have Saint Stephens Day is a day which Hungary’s first king was put in power. They also have National Day holidays on March 15 and October 23. All Saints Day on November 1 is pretty much a Hungarian Halloween.

 You must greet every guest with a right hand shake and if it is someone of importance and kiss on right and left cheek. Conversation is pretty formal unless you know the person then it can be a less formal and more friendly conversation. To say goodbye you give a hug or hand shake and on with your business.
