PhD in Biodefense This degree requires the completion of 72 credits. 22 credits of required courses: –Science Core: BIOD 604: Introduction to Biodefense: Bacteria and Toxins BIOD 605: Introduction to Biodefense: Viruses –Policy Core: BIOD 609: Biodefense Strategy and Policy PUAD 630: All Hazard Planning and Preparedness GOVT 540: International Politics –Methodology Core: GOVT 500: Research Methods in Political Science 3 credits of an additional approved advanced research course (qualitative or quantitative) –Speaker Series 1 credit of BIOD 702: Biodefense Colloquium 12 credit concentration requirement: Students select one of two concentrations: International Security or Homeland Security. 6 credit distribution requirement in the field that the student is not concentrating in 6-9 credits of BIOD 998: Dissertation Proposal and credits of BIOD 999: Dissertation Research. A maximum of 24 credits of 998 and 999 may be applied to the degree.
