Beast II Test Beam 13 9th VXD workshop, Sep 8th,2015, Trieste. — Beast II have been delayed ( commissioning of BEAST II February 2017??) — Next year Beast II silicon sensors will be proved in a Test Beam at Desy (april 2016??) — Proposal for integration of FBG fibers in FANGS (FE-I4 ATLAS Near Gamma Sensors) in order to measure temperature and humidity during test beam. 2 fibers with several sensors along the aluminium frame

Beast-II monitoring with fibers 14 9th VXD workshop, Sep 8th,2015, Trieste. — Temperature + humidity measurements on FANGS Stave support ( similar to the proposed for TB). — Temperature measurement along Beam Pipe on different points — Beam pipe – cartridge relative radial vibration measurement using L-shapes.

Beast-II Hardware 16 9th VXD workshop, Sep 8th,2015, Trieste. — Temperature and Humidity measurements: _ Fibers geometry must be defined and fibers the must be ordered and delivered (4 months) _ Once fibers received they must be prepared and calibrated with temperature and humidity (2 months) _ Fibers fixation must be studied carefully (2 months) — Displacements / Vibrations measurements _ L-shapes are manufactured _ The clamp must be design, and the contact ball must be glued (1 month) _ L-shapes must be tested with humidity ( 3-4 days test) (2 weeks) _ L-shapes calibration (2 weeks)

Beast-II Software 17 9th VXD workshop, Sep 8th,2015, Trieste. — In collaboration with Michael Ritcher: Readout integrated in epics similar to 2014 test beam ( it is expected to be integrated smoothly) — Temperature and humidity and displacement measurements not a problem — Study the possibility of measuring vibrations with L- shapes: _ Interrogation speed 1 KHz. Write 1 frequency spectrum each 60 seconds with 0.1hz resolution (0-500 Hz,5000 points)

Conclusions 19 9th VXD workshop, Sep 8th,2015, Trieste. — First Depfet mock-up results: FBG fibers seems to be feasible to measure temperature and humidity _ Temperature fibers must be prepared more carefully or use acrylate fibers in order to avoid humidity sensitivity _ Fibers locking must be studied very carefully in order to avoid stress effect. — For next year some fibers positioned in the FANGS aluminum support structure ( a hole can be made all along the stave for fibers positioning) in order to measure temperature and humidity during Test beam. — A first proposal for beast II temperature, humidity and displacement monitoring have been presented. More iterations needed with Depfet collaboration in order to define the final system.
