Security Partnership By Kevin Hegner Public Private

Introduction Having the ability to coordinate and work together would greatly enhance the ability to ensure the public’s safety and security. With the integration of both public and private security cooperation working together with local and federal agencies they would have the ability to do just that. With help and some oversight of different local and federal law enforcement agencies they would all be able to have the ability to respond to different incidences better prepared and with more knowledge of the current situation. There must be a common goal between all agencies and that goal should be to serve, protect and care for the people of the community and their property.

Public Security Operating Areas  City, county, and federal law enforcement (Police)  Courtroom Security (Sheriffs)  Government protection (State Troopers)  Emergency response to criminal and natural activity  Protect homes and streets  Counter terrorism  Explosive ordinance disposal (EOD)

Strengths and Weakness of Public Security Strength  Government backing  Authority to enforce laws  Availability of training Weakness  Funding  Resources (equipment)  Man power

Private Security Operating Areas  Agriculture and food  Banking and finance  Chemical and hazmat  Defense industrial base  Energy  Information security  Large venues, buildings, and monuments  Postal and shipping  Transportation  Water and wastewater

Strengths and Weakness of Private Security Strength  Funding  Resources (equipment)  Potential for more man power Weakness  Lack of training  Restricted by law  Ability to respond to emergencies

Current Limitations  Communication between agencies  Lack of information sharing  Different training standards  Response/Handling of emergencies

Potential Benefits of Cooperation  Improved communication  More information sharing  Training partnership  Improved emergency response  Increased local security  Handling of multiple situations

Questions?????  Now is the time to ask  No question is a dumb question, but the one that you don’t ask
