GOALS FOR EVERY CONGREGATION #3 Intro. Goal - An end that is WORKED toward. Recall Lesson #1: Being Scriptural! Recall Lesson #2: Being Fruitful! Now let us consider: Being United! BEING UNITED

I. WHAT IS UNITY? A. Synonyms: 1. One - Function (Acts 3:32; 1 Cor. 1:10). 2. Agreement (Amos 3:3). 3. Accord - Unity of Mind (Acts 2:46). GOALS FOR EVERY CONGREGATION #3 BEING UNITED B. Antonyms: 1. Discord - Disagreement (Prov. 6:19). 2. Division - Parties (1 Cor. 12:25). 3. Strife - Fighting (1 Cor. 3:3). C. Unity is not 100% agreement over opinions. D. Unity is a willingness to yield in opinions and hold to what God has revealed.

II. WHY IS UNITY A GOAL? A. God demands is (1 Cor. 1:10; 12:25; Eph. 4:1-3; Jn. 17:20-21). GOALS FOR EVERY CONGREGATION #3 BEING UNITED B. Affects The Strength Of The Local Church: 1. A divided church is not strong (Mt. 12:25). 2. Unity provides strength (Eccl. 4:9-12). 3. We can accomplish more working together than working against one another. 4. Affects our influence (John 13:34-35).

III. HOW ATTAIN TO THIS GOAL? A. Have The Same Standard (Phil. 3:16; Amos 3:3). GOALS FOR EVERY CONGREGATION #3 BEING UNITED B. Hope For The Best In Others (1 Cor. 13:7). C. Yield Where You Can (Rom. 14; 1 Cor. 8-10). D. Have The Right Attitude (Eph. 4:1-3).
