WHAT IS THE ROLE OF A CHARITY TRUSTEE? On your tables, discuss and flip some of the main roles of a charity trustee. Be ready to report back in plenary.

6 MAIN DUTIES OF A TRUSTEE Trustees have overall control of a charity and are responsible for making sure it’s doing what it was set up to do. They must: 1. Ensure the charity is carrying out its purposes for the public benefit 2. Comply with charity’s governing document and the law 3. Act in charity’s best interests (long term, decisions on activities and resources) 4. Manage charity’s resources responsibly (budgeting, risk management, income generation, staffing) 5. Act with reasonable care and skill (duty of care, taking advice, dealing with incidents etc) 6. Ensure charity is accountable (members, beneficiaries, funders, supporters)
