 Essential Question: Why did Germany lose WW2? Success Criteria: I can explain the significance of Germany declaring war on the US for Germany’s lose.

 Vocabulary:  Tripartite Pact  GDP  Lend-lease

  Tripartite Pact- Pact between Germany and Japan stating that if Japan was attacked, Germany had to enter in aid of Japan.  7 December Japan invaded Pearl Harbour, US enters war  Hitler knew US would soon declare war on Germany US navy was attacking German U-boats Roosevelt's repeated verbal attacks against his Nazi ideology What Happened

  West part of US was concentrated on Japan  Hitler thought to make an easier conflict by anticipating war against US, in order to not let them more time to strengthen by splitting US concerns (west – Japan; east – Germany) What Happened

  Economic superiority of the Allies  (GDP- Gross domestic product) Why?

  Military Superiority of the Allies  around 16 million Germans served in the army during the Second World War. between 3 and 3.5 million were killed in action.  Around 20 million Americans served in the United States Armed Forces Around 290,000 killed in action. Why?

  Hitler Some people could say that by declaring war war to US, Hitler committed a mistake, conducting Germany to the loss of WW2, but the US would have attacked Germany in any case, so Hitler anticipated the attack when the US was weaker. Why?

  What would have happened if Germany wouldn’t have declared war on the US?  Lend-lease – ( ) USA supplied other countries like Britain and the USSR with food, oil, weapons, and warships.  US wouldn’t have done the land-lease with USSR so Germany would have had more possibilities to defeat the USSR and other countries.  US would have attacked Germany soon after, when it was even stronger Impact on Germany
