VETERANS DAY PARADE 2015 SATURDAY NOVEMBER 7 TH

MISSION The Boise Veterans Day Parade Committee plans, organizes, and conducts a Veterans Day Parade in Boise, Idaho, annually on the first Saturday before November 11, in order to recognize sacrifices and honor the service of all Armed Forces veterans of the United States of America, and heighten community understanding and appreciation of the value of military service to the nation. INTENT The Boise Veterans Day Parade Committee’s intent is to honor veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States of America, by extending written invitations to all military organizations and veterans organizations, and selected universities, colleges, high schools, junior high schools, and youth and civic organizations from all communities in the Boise Area, who, on their agreement to adhere to the parade theme and other parade regulations established by the committee, will be encouraged to enter marching bands and/or other appropriate marching or vehicle units in the parade so that through their participation in the parade and support of the parade theme they will honor the service and sacrifice of both serving members and veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States of America, and at the same time heighten community awareness of the value of military service to the nation.

PARADE START TIME 9:25 AM ALLOWS TIME FOR LEAD UNIT TO BE IN FRONT OR CLOSING ON THE CAPITOL STEPS AT OR ABOUT 9:25 AM WHEN KTVB BEGINS THEIR BROADCAST PROJECTED COMPLETION 11:00 AM ALL UNITS RETURNED TO MARSHALING AREA AND CLEARING OF THE AREA WELL UNDER WAY

LOCATION Downtown Boise Prescribed parade route: – Jefferson and Bannock Streets – Between 4 th and 10 th Streets Assembly – Disassembly (Marshaling) Area – 11 th Street between State and Idaho Streets – 12 th Street between State and Idaho Streets – Jefferson Street between 10 th and 13 th Streets – Bannock Street between 10 TH and 13 TH Streets

ESTIMATED PARTICIPANTS & SPECTATORS 2,500 participants 7,000 + spectators 104 vehicles 16 motorcycles Types of Organizations – Active, Guard, and Reserve U S Armed Forces – Veterans’ Service Organizations – HS & JHS Bands, & various youth groups – Civic Organizations – Floats sponsored by Home Depot, Idaho Power, US Navy Reserve, BSU

EVENT BENEFICIARIES – Idaho U S Armed Forces Veterans; esp. Ada, Canyon, & Elmore Counties – School & Youth Groups – Boise for the fact the parade takes place in Boise – People within the KTVB Channel 7 broadcast area

TRAFFIC CONTROL Street intersection barriers will be provided by the Specialty Construction Company Restricted access to the assembly area will begin at 7:00 AM and continue through parade end estimated at 11:00 AM Restricted access to the entire area will begin at 9:10 AM and end once the last parade unit returns to the disassembly area

NEIGHBORHOOD NOTIFICATION PLAN Eight days before the parade (Friday, October 30 th ) we will walk the parade route and advise merchants and residents of the parade. Hand outs will be provided

TRASH/RECYCLING PLAN We will emplace trash and recycling receptacles in the assembly/disassembly area, and empty them at the end of the parade. We will walk the parade route and pick up trash that may have been dropped by spectators.

MISCELLANEOUS No alcohol is involved with this event Food vending is not part of this event
