Separating Mixtures  You are given a bucket filled with sand, rocks, iron nails, and pieces of foam.  Discuss with your partner how you would separate the pieces from each other and what equipment you would need.  No, you cannot simply pick the things out with your hands  Once you have a plan, share it with your table group to compare and decide on a final plan.

Separating Mixtures Just one way of doing it: 1. Use a magnet to separate the iron nails. 2. Use a grate/strainer to separate the rocks out. 3. Use water to make the foam float to the top and skim it off. 4. Boil off the water from the sand. These are all PHYSICAL methods.
