Essential Question: Why was Russia the first nation to have a communist revolution? Given Marxism, why is this paradoxical?

Brainstorm: Russian History What do you remember about Russian history?

A Brief History of Russia Our task for today will be to learn about and summarize Russian history from 1861 to 1905 (the pivotal background period for the coming Russian Revolution) To do this you will work with your group and read a brief source describing this period. You will then make a summary sheet of the top 5-10 moments of Russian history during this period. –What do you see as the most important / pivotal experiences during this time?
