M Y P ROFESSIONAL E XPERIENCE I started my career as a 3 rd and 4 th grade elementary school teacher. After earning my M.L.S., I changed careers and began working as a school librarian. I loved that job! Over the years I had the pleasure of working in elementary, middle, and private school libraries. I eventually moved out of the school library and became a branch manager at a public library and then began working at Ashford. Additionally, I volunteer at a museum library, and worked as an intern researcher for the National Library of the Netherlands.

M Y C AREER A T A SHFORD At Ashford, I work as a Digital Services Librarian providing research assistance to all students and faculty. As the library liaison to the College of Education, I have many responsibilities to faculty and students. My main focus is providing instruction on the use of a digital library. I am also a faculty member in the College of Education and teach undergraduate education and library science courses to Ashford’s students.

My husband and I have been married for five years. We have two adorable kittens who we can’t bare to be away from. We love going to Disneyland and watching European Soccer together. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, reading, and practicing my knitting.

W HAT I S M Y R OLE I N T HIS C OURSE ? Beginning in the second discussion in Week 1, I’ll be “embedding” in your course to offer feedback and suggestions on your action research topics. The concept of embedded librarianship refers to the virtual placement of a librarian within the online classroom. You’ll also see me in other discussion forums throughout the course offering suggestions and guidance as you progress on your action research proposal. Using a digital library can often be frustrating, so feel free to contact me along the way if you get stuck!
