Information Science is the study that studies the way in which information is stored, retrieved and utilized by the people that have access to it. In my work I will describe how I became an information science student, what drove me to study for information science (librarian) and challengers I came across on my way to become an IS student. What motivated me as an individual and the ways I took to over come those challenges. MUROA LETHUNYA2

I was about 8 years old that time when I figured that I have this connection with books. That time I used to visit our half room size library with my friends to get some comic books to read. My friends will makes jokes of her, the librarian but I did not liked what they were doing because I wanted to become just like her, by becoming an librarian MUROA LETHUNYA4
Secondary level During my secondary days things were different, my teacher once asked me ‘‘what are you going to study for when you complete your matric’’ my answer was simple I just said, librarian and she told me of how librarian people earns peanuts and the way that course was out-dated, doing all this trying to make me change my mind on the career path that I have chosen. Other learners were choosing other careers I just wanted to become an librarian. MUROA LETHUNYA5
After completing my matric, it was time for me to choose what I really want to do with my life. I spent the whole two years clueless having nothing interesting to take as a career only librarian that made sense to me that time. After matric MUROA LETHUNYA6
During my stay at home thinking nothing only what I want to take as a career in life. Initially I am not that person who believe in role models, I believe that everyone is the captain of his or her own ship, so whatever decisions you take it will either benefit you or haunt at a later stage. My stay at home for that two years made me realise that life without a degree this days is hard. So I did utilize my chance to be what I love which is an being a librarian while I still have a chance to. There is this movie called TSOTSI that movie made me look at life in a different eye. Seeing a person struggling to read at this time of the earth that was a green light for me. MUROA LETHUNYA9
My first year at university things were difficult, facing a computer all by myself for the first time, I never thought I will survive this environment. As a information science student you have to be in-date with technology that improves day in and day out it is important for us as student to be up to date with it, in order to be able to create information and to retrieve it out of available information systems. This days librarian does not only deal with books and papers does deals with electronic equipment such as computers, printers. So to become an librarian you have to obtain all needed computer skills, you need to be computer literate. CONCLUSION Regardless of how hard the road it may be, as long as you have the passion of what you are doing, nothing is impossible. I have learned that in life there is no easy road to succeed, so I have to handle the challengers that I came across in the journey. Through dedication and hard work you can reach every dream you have in life. MUROA LETHUNYA11
