SCSPF CLEANROOM UPDATE Flood Recovery Plan and Status April 30, 2012 Allan Rowe

What Happened? At 07:45 a.m. on April 24 th, during a routine crane inspection, a sprinkler head from the B101 High Bay primary fire suppression system was set off by the overhead crane when electrical conduit attached to the crane made contact. An interference has always been present (and known), so this was an accident waiting to happen. An official incident report will be completed by ANL.

Who was present? A FNAL cleanroom technician was performing a 1-cell 1.3 GHz assembly when he noticed water was falling from the ceilings of the cleanroom. The crane inspector alerted the cleanroom technician of the problem through the window of the cleanroom.

Plan Remove all portable hardware, tooling, parts, etc. and transport to IB4 CR area. Clean and prep all components in IB4 and package for return shipment. Verify function of all electronic and mechanical hardware. This will be ongoing for several months for components that got wet. Setup cost center at ANL (FMS) to cover losses.

Plan cont. Contract with Midwest Cleanroom Associates to replace complete CR ceiling, verify electrical integrity, etc. Clean high-bay area Clean cleanrooms Transport all CR stuff back to ANL. Re-commission all services
