April 17, 2009Ohio Athletic Trainers Board5 Licensure vs. Certification  It is illegal to practice as an AT in Ohio without valid Ohio license  The Ohio license must be issued prior to practicing athletic training in Ohio  BOC certification alone does not authorize an athletic trainer to practice in Ohio

April 17, 2009Ohio Athletic Trainers Board6 Approval of an Event OAC  Organizer of an event at which non-Ohio licensed ATs will provide athletic training services must apply to AT Section for approval of the event  Example would be USA Track and Field Championships  Does not apply to ATs traveling with a visiting team  Approval form on Board’s website

April 17, 2009Ohio Athletic Trainers Board9 Proposed Rules Changes  – Code of Ethics Proposing changes to public conduct of licensees Add provision stating that ATs can’t document or bill for services not actually provided Clarify restrictions related to boundary violations and sexual harassment  – License Reinstatement Clarify the CE required for individuals reinstating an expired Ohio license

April 17, 2009Ohio Athletic Trainers Board10 Proposed Rules Changes  – Continuing Education Reduce # of hours required from 50 to 25 Eliminate First Aid & CPR as acceptable CE activities Clarify that poster presentations count in the presentation category Expand on what’s included as self-study Grant CE for graduation from a NATA accredited post-professional athletic training education program
