February 11, 2011 Key Information Set Pilot Page 2 KIS Overview  HEFCE commissioned research into the information needs of users of information on higher education  16 information items identified as being useful to students when making a decision about where and what to study  Recommended that items should be collated and published in Key Information Sets (KIS), provided at course level on HEI websites and linked to UCAS  This recommendation is a key component of the joint HEFCE, UUK and GuildHE consultation on Public Information on Higher Education (HEFCE November 2010/31).

February 11, 2011 Key Information Set Pilot Page 8 Oxford Information Collection – Part One Data collection exercise utilises pre-existing information available centrally (teaching review), plus Divisions, Colleges, Land Agents  Information held centrally  Information on undergraduate teaching, learning and assessment from Programme Specifications and the Teaching Review  Information required from divisional staff  Teaching and learning methods used, broken down into hours of formal scheduled teaching; placements  formative assessments built in to the teaching and learning.
