Where you live now, where you grew up, and why did you (if you did), move Hi, my name is Apprina Faulkner. I live in Chicago Illinois, born and raised. I am a single mother of one boy and one girl, ages 16 and 24. My hobbies are reading and watching all genre of movies.

How and when you chose to earn a master’s degree in your chosen program. What made you passionate about this career choice? My career goal, which I have slowly been working towards throughout my 4 years in college, is to become a Direct Service Counselor. I have always had a heart for children, and I am drawn to children with infirmities. In our society today, those with psychological disabilities tend to be looked down upon. I would like to become a school counselor that will show children the support and patience they need to succeed in life. Mental and physical disabled children are easily overlooked as candidates for educational programs. My hopes are that while counseling these children, I will be able to open up more opportunities of higher educational programs, and eventually better job opportunities.

Who was your favorite K – 12 teacher and why? Who was your least favorite and why My favorite teacher in grammar schools was my seventh grade teacher, Mrs. Twin. Mrs. Twin, was an authoritative teacher (which blends a caring tone with structure and consistent limit-setting). I can’t remember ever walking into her classroom feeling hopeless or defeated; she had this aura about her that made you want to learn and listen and give you’re all. She never looked down on her children, but always encourage us.

If you could only eat one food, for the rest of your life (at dinner time) what would it be? My food of choice would have to be rice, I have always been a big fan of rice, any type of rice. It is light, but filling and you can eat as much rice as you want to without worrying about gaining too much weight.
