Breeds of Horses Horses may be classified according to specific type and use ▫Riding horses: saddle (three-gaited, five-gaited), walking, stock, polo, hunters and jumpers, and ponies ▫Race horses: running (Thoroughbred, Quarter) and Harness (trotters and pacers) ▫Driving horses: Heavy harness, fine harness, roadsters, and ponies ▫Work horse: Draft, wagon, and exhibition
