Definitions of Yoga Therapy Larry Payne, Ph.D. Samata Yoga Center (U.S.A.) Yoga therapy adapts the practice of Yoga to the needs of people with specific or persistent health problems not usually addressed in a group class. Art Brownstein, M.D: Yoga therapy consists of the application of yogic principles, methods, and techniques to specific human ailments. In its ideal application, Yoga therapy is preventive in nature, as is Yoga itself, but it is also restorative in many instances, palliative in others, and curative in many others.

How Yoga-therapy is different from Yoga ? Maintains the harmony at body-mind-spirit, Restores harmony through healing. Preventive Curative and Preventive. Asymptomatic Symptomatic Generalized approach to groups Customized approach to indivduals and groups Practised by healthy individuals only Undergone by people who have specific mind-body ailments Have basic knowledge of human body Deep knowledge of human anatomy and physiology Doctor’s advice and diagnosis not required Doctor’s advice and diagnosis is required. Practice same Asanas(Postures) Healing through modification of postures. Cannot be practised by Injured people Used to heal and recover from Injuries
