 What was President Taft’s approach to progressive reform?  Talk with your shoulder buddy about the Taft Administration

 On this day in 19?? Mr. Graham Walker was born at 2:13 pm weighing 8lbs & 15 oz. (Applause)

 Believed in attacking large concentrations of power to allow the people to receive more freedom.  Called for a triple wall of privilege: trusts, tariffs, and high finance

 The Federal Trade Commission served as a “watchdog” agency that could investigate possible violations of the law and stop unfair business practices

 Wilson used the Clayton Antitrust Act (1914) to strengthen the Sherman Antitrust Act.  This prohibited corporations from acquiring the stock of another if doing so would create a monopoly.

 Provides a federal income tax that taxes individual earnings and corporate profits  Incorporated a graduated tax system where those who earned more were taxed a larger portion of their earnings

 Wilson’s Federal Reserve System helped to save banks and increase the circulation of money across the country.

 Through the efforts of women’s groups and the growing role of women in society during WWI, Congress passed the 19 th Amendment granting women the right to vote.
