Classroom Procedures Classroom procedures are organized tasks completed by students on a daily basis. These procedures should be followed even in the absence of the teacher. Procedures ensure the success of the student and safety of the classroom.

Although students may be placed in groups, grades will be awarded based on each individuals participation and productivity within the group. Teacher will assign groups. Quiet Signals A quiet signal is used by a teacher or speaker to get the attention of the group. When the signal is done the group must respond by repeating the gesture and ending all discussions in order to give attention and respect to the speaker. Teacher

Attendance Policy Each student is expected to arrive on time for each class. Yes, this includes students who may have classes on the opposite end of the campus. Tardiness disrupts the learning environment and impacts the grade of the student. Excessive tardiness will result in consequences. Each student is expected to arrive on time for each class. Absent from Class Students with excused absences will be allowed to make up missed assignments. Excused absences are Doctor’s appointments and school sponsored events. Assignments may be found online on the class webpage. Students will have up to 2 days after their excused return to complete and turn in missing assignments. Missed assessments must be scheduled and taken after school no later than 2 days after you return. BATHROOM POLICY Each student will be given 2 bathroom passes per each 6 weeks. Passes may not be used the first or last 15 minutes of the class period. GROOMING AND COSMETICS All grooming and cosmetics must be taken care of before entering the classroom. Chapstick may be applied (Not tinted lip gloss, lipstick, or liner). GRADING POLICY Grades will be entered on a weekly basis. Grades reflect the effort and knowledge of the student and not the personal feelings of the teacher toward the student or behavior of the student. Each student is capable of being academically successful in this course. In order to challenge student’s ability to think critically and raise the expectations for success, the grade of 70 has been removed from the grading scale.

IN SCHOOL SUPPENSION When a student is taken out of the classroom and placed in ISS the normal learning environment is disrupted. In an attempt to encourage student attendance and positive interactions on campus, alternative assignments sent to students in ISS will not be given full credit. Students may earn up to a 69 on alternative assignments.

PLAGIRISM/ CHEATING Plagiarism is defined as using the work of someone else as your own with out properly citing the original source. Plagiarism also includes excessive citations of another author’s work in a student’s assignments. Extensive paraphrasing, not including in-depth analysis, are also considered as plagiarism. Cheating using the work or ideas of someone else as your own.

CONSEQUENCES FOR PLAGIRISM/ CHEATING Plagiarism and cheating will not be tolerated at any time for any reason throughout this course. Students participating in plagiarism or cheating will receive a grade of ZERO and disciplinary actions will be taken. Students may not attend tutorials for extra credit, credit recovery hours or to complete assignments a student has chosen not to complete during the period. Cell phone policies apply to tutorial hours. Tutorials are not designed to be social gatherings. There will be no tutorial hours the last week of the grading period. Week 6 =No tutorials. Assessment Retake Policy It is the policy of JTHS that a student may retake an assessment with a grade below 70 and earn up to a grade of *70. Failed assessment retakes must be scheduled within 1 week of the failed assessment. Student must attend a tutorial in order to be retaught the lesson before taking the exam. INCLEMENT WEATHER Students with classes in the portables are still required to report to class in a timely manner even in the event of inclement weather such as rain or snow. Other external buildings should follow inclement weather procedures when and if announced. Please dress appropriately to prevent delay if necessary (Rain coat, boots, umbrella). EMERGENCY PROCEDURES All students are required to participate in safety drills and actual emergencies promptly, quietly, and appropriately.
