This essay offers the students the opportunity to investigate a topic of special interest and become acquainted with the kind of independent research and writing skills expected at the university level. The CAS requirements takes seriously the importance of life outside the world of scholastics. Each IB student is required to complete 150 hours of community service before they graduate.
