Value of this project You can earn up to 100 points by making 10 PowerPoint slides which will translate into 1% added to your final semester %. You cannot earn more than this. You can do less slides for less extra credit.

Scope of this project You will create 10 slides with the following information on each (see example slide) –Name of product –Picture of product –Picture of ingredient list with targeted ingredient underlined –Name of ingredient and formula –Commercial use (ie – why is it in the product?)

The ingredient You will need to read labels of household/grocery store products. You are looking for an ingredient that is made from one cation and one anion from the chart on the website’s pdf file. –For example – hydrogen acetate or nickel (II) cyanide would work

Sample slide Coke Zero Potassium Benzoate KC 7 H 5 O 2 Used as a preservative

The ions – your ingredient must be made of one of the cations combined with one of the anions from Ions list (see pdf document on teacher website link)

Each slide = 10 points –1 point for name of product –1-2 points (2 if picture large and clear) for product picture –1-2 points (2 if picture large and clear) for ingredients picture with ingredient underlined –2 points for ingredient (1 cation with 1 anion from list) –2 points for correct formula of ingredient –1 point for commercial use (why used in product) 10 slides = 100 points = 1% GRADING!
