 Soviet Territory  Kiev,Ukraine  A Ravine called Babi Yar

 The Einsatzgruppen invaded June 22, 1941  Sent to eliminate Red Army commissars, the physically and mentally handicapped, communist party functionaries, partisans and Jews  Supposed to be kept secret

 Over a span of two years  During Late September Jews were killed in groups of 30 to 40  Not the Largest “Special Action” of the war

 It was part of the mass genocide  It was ordered by Hitler  Mass killing of Jews

 Major Communist Leaders  Physically and Mentally handicapped  1.5 million were killed  33,771 were Jews killed during the Babi Yar masacre

 The Ravine was so big you could hear your echo on the other side  Nazis made Prisoners try to clean up the evidence  Out of 327 prisoners forced to clean up 100 were Jews  The Nazis made a special tool to pull corpses from the ravine
