AIMS OF THE PROJECT: - to prepare a common comparative research concerning the experiences of the changes after the fall of the communism for people in their 50s and 60s, -to organize workshops to exchange the national experiences, and results of the research, which have already been made in the involved countries, -to develop a new common research method, - to make a questionnaire, -to organize a pilot research in Hungary: 100 tested questionnaires in Nyiregyhaza.

The main aim of the research in one hand is to develop and apply the questionnaire, furthermore to check whether it works (clear, understandable questions, order of the questions, etc.) On the other hand, based on testing and applying the questionnaire we would like to make an other project in the future in order to study our topic in representative sample of countries of V4. According to our plans, the pilot research will be in this autumn (Sept.) in Nyiregyhaza. We will work with students from our Faculty, after we training them to the interviews. MAKING QUESTIONNAIRE

SAMPLE OF THE PILOT RESEARCH People between years -born they were years old at the revolution (1989) -some of them had only some experiences of the labour market and some of them had been for a longer time at labour market at changing of the regime

I. Effects of the economic transition 1.Objective experiences: financial situation before and after the changes (poverty - quick enrichment), participation in the shadow/informal economy in the ‘80s (household farming, (business) partnership in socialist factory); experiences of labour market (changing job, workplace before and after 1989, unemployment period); possibility in the joint of privatization processes Dimensions of the pilot research

Social participation Social participation, democratization of the society (civil and political rights); participation of the political process (membership of parts and interest organization); (local, national, EU level) social activity – political, local community, NGO-s, family (e.g. voluntary activities; care to children, grandchildren; care to older adults); political participation, political engagement (filling political positions). 3. Role of the state paternalism from the side of the state and expectations from the side of individuals what is the role of the state in ensure of social and, medical services, pensioner system from the side of individuals? II. Effects of social and political transition

Psychic experiences, attitudes, feelings attitudes to the old regime, attitudes to values (freedom and secure), judgment of political, economic and social changes; judgment of financial situation in different periods IV.
