Zephaniah 1:14-18 “The great day of the LORD is near; It is near and hastens quickly. The noise of the day of the LORD is bitter; There the mighty men shall cry out. That day is a day of wrath, A day of trouble and distress, A day of devastation and desolation,”

“A day of darkness and gloominess, A day of clouds and thick darkness, A day of trumpet and alarm Against the fortified cities And against the high towers. "I will bring distress upon men, And they shall walk like blind men, Because they have sinned against the LORD;”

“Their blood shall be poured out like dust, And their flesh like refuse." Isaiah 24:1 “Look! The LORD is about to destroy the earth and make it a vast wasteland. He devastates the surface of the earth and scatters the people.”

Isaiah 24:2 “Priests and laypeople, servants and masters, maids and mistresses, buyers and sellers, lenders and borrowers, bankers and debtors— none will be spared.”

“Justified” is best understood as “Just as if I had never sinned.”

Isaiah 24:3 “The land shall be entirely emptied and utterly plundered, For the LORD has spoken this word.”

1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 “But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. ‎ 2 For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. ‎ 3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!”

“then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. ‎ 4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.”

“Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.”

“For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him. Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.”

Isaiah 24:5 “The earth is also defiled under its inhabitants, Because they have transgressed the laws, Changed the ordinance, Broken the everlasting covenant.”

“There is no single covenant known as the everlasting covenant, because the title applies to several different covenants. The covenant God made with mankind after the flood, never to judge the world again by water is called an everlasting covenant (Genesis 9:16).

The covenant God made with Abraham and his descendants is called an everlasting covenant (Genesis 17:7, 13, 19). The covenant God made with Israel and the priesthood is called an everlasting covenant (Leviticus 24:8).

The covenant God made with David, to bring the Messiah from his line, is called an everlasting covenant (2 Samuel 23:5). The New Covenant is called an everlasting covenant, both prophetically (Jeremiah 32:40) and after its establishment (Hebrews 13:20). David Guzik

Isaiah 24:14 “They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing; For the majesty of the LORD They shall cry aloud from the sea.”

“The word they probably refers to the righteous who will be left after God’s judgment on the earth. Though few in number (v. 6) they will delight in the fact that the earth is cleansed from people’s sin.” Martin/ Walvoord

Isaiah 24:21-22 “On that day the LORD will punish the host of heaven, in heaven, and the kings of the earth, on the earth. They will be gathered together as prisoners in a pit; they will be shut up in a prison, and after many days they will be punished.”

Revelation 19:20 “And the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who in its presence had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped its image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur.”

Revelation 20:1-3 “Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain. 2 And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years,”

“ and threw him into the pit, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while.”

Isaiah 25:8-9 “He will swallow up death forever, And the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces; The rebuke of His people He will take away from all the earth; For the LORD has spoken. And it will be said in that day:

“Behold, this is our God; We have waited for Him, and He will save us. This is the LORD; We have waited for Him; We will be glad and rejoice in His salvation.”
