Intramural Basketball 2012 Captains Meeting
Parking All players will park in the F Street lot and enter the school through the South Lobby Doors. The door that is closest to the pool is usually the one that is unlocked. Don’t prop an outside door open. If door is locked ask me to unlock it.
Lost/Stolen Items DO NOT bring anything into the school that is valuable! LaPorte High School is not responsible for lost or stolen items. If you want to keep it…. Keep it in your car.
ID Cards All players must have their IMB ID cards to get in. Lost ID’s can be replaced in F-12 for $1 during the school day. Replacement ID’s at the door are $3 and require a school issued photo ID.
Moodle Encourage all players to check the moodle site. You can find it under “LPHS Athletics” I will post Weather/Cancellation info on the site as well as post rankings and game results after every game.
Cancellations If school is cancelled, so is IMB. If school dismisses early, IMB is cancelled. By chance if weather gets bad after the school day, check the moodle site for cancellation notice. We will make up days at the end of the regular season.
Player Expectations School rules still apply at IMB. No fighting – Police will be called. Officials and door security are considered staff members. If you swear or confront a staff member you will be subject to school rules and suspended from school. All players if asked to leave school grounds will do so, if not Police will be called. All players will observe Sportsmanship at all time.
Officiating You may talk to an official during the game. You MAY NOT criticize an official or confront an official at anytime. Poor sportsmanship will result in being kicked out of the league.
Score Keeping Each team is issued a scorekeeper ID card for one person who is not on your team to enter the gym for the purpose of KEEPING SCORE. One team will do the scoreboard and the other team will keep the clipboard. This WILL be in place PRIOR to the game starting. No scorekeepers, no game. Anyone can keep score.
Spectators Parents are welcome to enter the gym to watch. Students without an ID card will not be allowed to enter the gym at any time. Siblings can enter the gym, but only with an adult.
Game Rules All teams must sign-in on the clipboard prior to the game starting. A total of two 10 minute halves, running clock. No free throws, all shooting fouls will count as the points from where they occur. 4 fouls per player Shake hands at the end of the game.
Special Rules Stalling Rule – Teams are not allowed to stall, an attempt to work the ball to the basket must always occur. Stalling is a technical foul to the captain. Slaughter Rule – No press after a team is up by 20 points.
Tournament Regular season play will determine the seedings of the single elimination tournament at the conclusion of the regular season. Tournament will be posted at the end of the regular season.
Rosters Players can be added to a roster up to ten players until the start of the tournament. A player can not be substituted after the season starts.
End of the Night All players must have rides here no later than 8:45. All players will leave the building at the conclusion of games. Captains of last game, please make sure basketballs at each court are given to the official at that court.
