Christ Baptist Church Fall 2015 / Spring 2016

1.What does walking by faith mean? 2.Are you more of an optimist, a pessimist, or a realist, as Dr. Wiersbe defines them? 3.What are some discouragements Paul encountered and some encouragements God provided? What teaching caused the Jews to oppose Paul? (18:5)

How did Paul respond to the opposition of the Jews? How does Ezekiel 33:1-6 explain what Paul meant by Your blood be on your own heads? How long did Paul stay in Corinth? Why so long? What did the Jews do next to make trouble for Paul?

Whose attitude was helpful to Paul and in what way? What happened after Gallio dismissed the case? 4. What did Aquila and Priscilla do? Why are they a good example? What do you learn about them from Romans 16:3-5 and 1 Corinthians 16:19?

5.What role did friends & coworkers play in Paul's life & ministry? Why is this important to remember? 6.Who are the friends with whom you share your life & ministry? If you don't have any, what can you do about that? What stops did Paul make on his return trip to Antioch, and what did he do in each place?

7.When in your life has God spoken a "fear not" to you in the midst of a storm? 8.How can divine election be a real source of inspiration, motivation, and perseverance as we seek to spread the gospel?

What words do you find in verse 21 which show that Paul was not following his own plan but God’s? 9.Why was this phrase so meaningful to Paul: "If God will"? 10.How is it significant that Paul took a vow in the manner of Jewish tradition? 11.What value, if any, do religious traditions have in the Christian life?

Paul kept God central in his life. What are you doing to keep God central in your life? People continued to put off accepting Christ as Paul preached in the Synagogues. How often do you put off what God is telling you? Will you respond to God’s calling? How has God provided for your needs in the past? How is he providing for your every need right now? Will you thank Him for being the Lord who provides (Genesis 22:14)?

"The astonishing idea is current in some circles today that we can enjoy the benefits of Christ's salvation without accepting the challenge of His sovereign Lordship." John RW Stott, Basic Christianity, p113
