A Study of Luke 5:1-11 #1 of 5 in the series: FEARLESS Reasons to “Fear Not” this Christmas Season Pastor Andy Albright

Fear has incredible relevance in our lives today.

We must not allow fear the opportunity to keep us from being who God wants us to be.

STEP #1: Always LISTEN for Jesus’ voice When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch. - Luke 5:4

Jesus is talking to us, are we listening? Jesus wants the same great relationship with you!

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. - Proverbs 3:5-6

STEP #2: Place your FAITH in Jesus Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets. - Luke 5:5

Place your faith and belief in Jesus today. Begin seeing your life change in powerful and wonderful ways.

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. - Hebrews 12:2

STEP #3: TURN from your SIN When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!” - Luke 5:8 When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!” - Luke 5:8

God knows that each and every one of us can do great things through Him. We must turn from our sins to be in a place to accomplish greatness.

Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God,

As those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness. - Romans 6:12-13 As those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness. - Romans 6:12-13

STEP #4: Say YES to Jesus’ calling in your life!

… and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will catch men.” So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him. - Luke 5:10-11 … and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will catch men.” So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him. - Luke 5:10-11

We have nothing to fear when we are living for God. We can confidently say YES to God’s calling upon our lives. God will richly bless our faith and obedience to Him.

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” - Isaiah 6:8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” - Isaiah 6:8

Our God wants us to live the good life. He wants us to live our lives without fear. Our God wants us to live the good life. He wants us to live our lives without fear.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. - 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. - 1 John 1:9
