Autism All-Star Dr. Temple Grandin ROADBLOCK – UNEMPLOYABLE To be successful in the world of employment and have a real career, success is more likely if the job requires use of the individual’s area of strength. Temple Grandin, Autism All-Stars.

ROADBLOCK – LACKING SOCIAL SKILLS Practising characterisations for the theatre and honing my acting skills to take on different roles has, I believe, helped me characterise and take on roles in my everyday life. While I still need lots of practice and I sometimes, despite myself, get out of character, dance and theatre has helped me take on a more acceptable, mainstream role and integrate more closely with a society in which I’ve always felt like an outsider. Robert McLachlan, Autism All-Stars.

Asperger Syndrome My mother would always seek ways to help me through my challenges, and yet she would also teach me to be independent, which I believe was very important, as now I am able to function independently as an adult. Damian Santomauro, Autism All-stars.
