My, how we’ve grown! Current numbers 36 active Citizen Corps Councils (+2 from last year) 113 trained CERT teams (+11 from last year) 1,961 trained volunteers (+187 from last year) Citizen Corps Councils provide coverage for 77 percent of the state. (+2% from last year) The number of trained CERT participants has grown by 293 percent since October 2004

We’ve been busy In 2009, ND CERT volunteers have been deployed for Tornado damage cleanup in Dickinson Statewide Flooding Volunteer supervision and sandbag operations at “Sandbag Central” in Bismarck Volunteer sign-in and sandbag operations in Fargo Various emergency support operations in Dickey County

We’ve been everywhere Settings we’ve trained in include: Schools and universities (CEU’s) State agencies Senior volunteer groups such as RSVP Hutterite colonies Businesses such as Wal-Mart and Kirkwood Mall Churches Daycare centers

We’re expanding Teen CERT North Dakota’s first Teen CERT class kicked off Jan. 28, 2009 in West Fargo Since then classes have been completed at Oak Grove, West Fargo and Northern Cass High Schools More programs are currently under way The ND program recently received a $40,000 grant from the Wal-Mart Foundation Have you thought about bringing Teen CERT to your community?

We’re getting national attention The United Tribes Citizen Corps Council was named the nation’s top Tribal Citizen Corps Council at the 2009 National Conference on Community Preparedness A story on ND CERT’s response to the 2009 floods is featured on the national CERT homepage

THANK YOU!! NONE of this would be possible without all of you Your work with Citizen Corps and CERT is making ND safer every day
